1. Net Metering Policy

  • Availability: Net metering is allowed for residential, institutional, and commercial consumers.
  • Capacity Limit: Up to 1 MW per consumer.
  • Sanction Load Restriction: Rooftop capacity cannot exceed sanctioned load.
  • Settlement: Monthly settlement of excess units, annual settlement at Average Power Purchase Cost (APPC).

2. Subsidy & Incentives

  • MNRE Central Subsidy (Residential only):
    • Up to 2 kW: ₹30,000 per kW
    • 2 kW – 3 kW: ₹18,000 per kW
    • Above 3 kW (up to 10 kW): ₹9,000 per kW
  • State Subsidy (if any):
    • Gujarat DISCOMs occasionally provide additional incentive schemes. Check latest circulars.
  • Commercial & Industrial: No subsidy, but full net metering benefit.

3. Eligibility

  • Who can apply: Residential, commercial, and industrial consumers with valid electricity connection.
  • Discoms: GUVNL, MGVCL, PGVCL, UGVCL, DGVCL.
  • Rooftop Ownership: Applicant must either own or have legal rights to rooftop usage.

4. Procedure to Apply

  1. Apply online at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) portal.
  2. Submit load details, rooftop area, and KYC documents.
  3. Technical feasibility approval by DISCOM.
  4. Installation, inspection, and meter integration.
  5. Net metering agreement executed with DISCOM.
